We have a large number of requests each for people seeking
work visas or migration to Australia through a Skilled Visa
Class. It is important to understand that for these classes
of visa you will need to have work experience in a Skilled
Occupation that is found on the Department of Immigration
and Multicultural Affairs Skilled Occupations
List. These occupations require significant training (e.g.
apprenticeships), university qualifications or similar. Without
worexperience in such an occupation you will not qualify for
the above visas, unless you have completed a course of study
in Australia.
If you have a university or trade qualification (or have served
an apprenticeship) and have professional qualifications or
trade skills as well as some work experience in your occupation,
you may be eligible for permanent migration to Australia.
In the majority of cases you must meet the basic requirements
and pass a points test.
Minimum
requirements
Under points-test applicants must pass a minimum of:
- Be less than 45 years of age at the
time of visa application
- Demonstrate proficiency in English
- Have a skilled occupation with qualifications recognised
in Australia.
If you do not pass the points test you could still be eligible
if you:
- have close family living in
Australia willing to sponsor you;
- choose to participate in Skill Matching and are nominated
by a State or Territory government,
or
are nominated by an employer under the Employer
Nomination Scheme.

Employer Sponsored Work Visas
An Australian employer can sponsor a skilled employee for
temporary or permanent residence in Australia. The applicant
must take up a skilled position (in an occupation on the Skilled
Occupation List) with the sponsoring employer.
Before applying for permanent residence under the employer
nomination scheme you must have an offer from an Australian
employer for permanent employment. The employer must comply
with several requirements before being able to nominate you.
(Please note – Migration Links does not secure
offers of employment from eligible employers).
